Govt forces Myanmar airline to suspend flights

YANGON, Myanmar -Myanmar has refused to renew the operating license of a privately owned domestic airline, in a move that may be linked to the government's efforts to tighten control over fractious ethnic minority groups.ပုဂၢလိကပိုင္ ျမန္မာ့ ျပည္တြင္းေလေၾကာင္းလိုင္းေျပးဆြဲမွ ုလိုင္စင္ သက္တမ္းတိုးရန္ စစ္အစိုးရမွ ျငင္းပယ္လိုက္သျဖင့္ တိုင္းရင္းသားလူနဲစုလက္နက္ကိုင္အဖြဲ့အေပၚ အစိုးရက ပိုမို အၾကပ္ကိုင္ လာေသာ အားထုတ္မွ ုလကၡဏာ ျဖစ္ဖြယ္ရွိမည္ဟု အကဲခတ္သူမ်ားက သံုးသပ္သည္။

A Yangon Airways official said Thursday that the Department of Civil Aviation gave no reason for the suspension. He asked not to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media.ျမန္မာ့ေလေၾကာင္းထိန္းသိမ္းေရးဌာန က ဆိုင္းငံ့ထားျခင္းအေပၚ မည္သို့ေသာ အေၾကာင္းျပခ်က္ကို မွ မေဖၚျပပါေၾကာင္း ရန္ကုန္ ေလေၾကာင္း အမည္မေဖၚလိုသူအရာရွိတဦးက ၾကာသပေတးေန့တြင္ေျပာသည္။

The airline sent a note to travel and tour companies that service would end Dec. 3 until further notice.

The government punished one such group, the Kachin Independence Organization, by refusing to allow ethnic Kachin leaders to run in the Nov. 7 general election. The other wholly privately owned domestic airline in Myanmar is Air Bagan. It is owned by business tycoon Tay Za, who is close to top junta leader Senior Gen. "Yangon Airways is a popular private airline and is a big competitor to Air Bagan. The suspension of flight services has caused immense problems as it happened at the peak tourist season," said a tour operator, who also asked not to be named.

“ရန္ကုန္ ေလေၾကာင္း ဟာ ထင္ရွားတဲ့ ပုဂၢလိကပိုင္တခု ျဖစ္ျပီးေတာ့ အဲယားပုဂံ ႏွင့္ စီးပြါးျပိုင္ဖက္ျဖစ္တယ္၊အခုလို ကမာၻလွည့္ခရီးသည္မ်ား လာစ ျပဳတဲ့ ရာသီမွာ ေလေၾကာင္းလိုင္းကို ဆုိင္းငံ့လိုက္ေတာ့ အၾကီးအက်ယ္ ျပႆနာ တက္ေစမယ္”ဟု အမည္မေဖၚလိုသူ ခရီးသြားလုပ္ငန္း ၾကီးၾကပ္သူတဦးက ေျပာသည္။
